The Bicikleto station uses a smart locking system based on NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, the same secure protocol found in contactless cards and smartphones.

With NFC, unlocking a bike is quick, safe, and effortless: simply tap your card or phone against the reader, and the lock will securely open or close. This eliminates the need for physical keys, application or complicated codes, reducing wear and improving reliability.

NFC ensures that every action is encrypted and traceable, giving riders confidence in the security of their bikes while allowing smooth, user-friendly operation. It also integrates easily with digital services, making it possible to connect bike access to memberships, apps, or other mobility platforms.

The station is equipped with multiple options for charging e-bikes, making it easier for riders to continue their journey with confidence.

Bosch and Shimano chargers are directly integrated, supporting two of the most widely used e-bike battery systems. Riders can simply connect their battery without carrying a personal charger.

A universal Schuko plug is also available, allowing other e-bike users to connect their own chargers or power compatible devices.

By offering both dedicated and universal charging options, the station ensures that all e-bike riders are supported, promoting the use of clean electric mobility and reducing dependence on cars for everyday travel.

The Bicikleto station is equipped with an integrated alarm system that provides reliable protection for both the station and the bikes. Sensors continuously monitor for unauthorized access, tampering, or forced movement. In case of suspicious activity, the system triggers an audible alarm and can also send a digital alert to the monitoring service or local authorities.

This added layer of security not only deters theft but also gives riders peace of mind, knowing their bikes and the station are being actively protected. Combined with smart locking and durable construction, the alarm system ensures that Bicikleto remains a safe and trusted mobility solution for the community.

Bicikleto station incorporates Slovenian wood, a renewable local resource that supports regional forestry and reduces the environmental impact of long-distance transport. By using wood sourced close to home, we help sustain local economies while keeping the station’s carbon footprint low.

The wood is thermomodified, meaning it has been treated with heat and steam – without chemicals – to enhance its natural durability. This process makes the wood more resistant to moisture, insects, and decay, extending its lifespan in outdoor environments. Because no harmful substances are added, thermomodified wood remains safe, natural, and fully recyclable.

The structure of this Bicikleto station is made from stainless steel – a material known for its strength, durability, and recyclability. Stainless steel resists corrosion, which means it can withstand years of outdoor use with very little maintenance. This longevity reduces the need for frequent replacement and saves resources over time.

What makes stainless steel especially sustainable is its infinite recyclability: it can be melted down and reused without losing quality. In fact, most stainless steel today already contains a high percentage of recycled content. By choosing stainless steel, Bicikleto supports a circular economy, where materials are continuously reused instead of discarded.
